In honor of this month being National Heart Month, people across the nation are wearing red today. This month serves as a reminder to take care of your heart and aims to educate people about the importance of eating well and maintaining good habits.

Did you know that according to the CDC, about 600,000 people die of heart disease every year? It is also the leading cause of death for both women and men. Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease, and each year, about 715,000 people will suffer from a heart attack. Things that could put you at risk for heart disease are family history, ethnicity, and age. However, these cannot be changed. What you CAN change is tobacco exposure, hypertension, cholesterol intake, physical activity, diet, and use of alcohol.
